We are requesting cancellation of our contract and the return of our deposit due to significant failures in communication and material/manufacturing changes to the original agreement. Big Buildings Direct failed to notify us for weeks that the manufacturer originally agreed upon would no longer be building our structure, despite the plans being clear and already approved. We were not informed of this change until we reached the point of scheduling our revision and installation and were prepared to set a date. In reliance on the original agreement, we purchased engineered plans, obtained approval from the City of Oklahoma City, paid approximately $1,000 for the required permit, and paid an additional $3,000 for site-specific floor plans. We are now being informed that the manufacturing process will be changed, resulting in thousands of dollars in additional costs and requiring new engineered drawings. Based on our discussions with the City, these changes would also require us to obtain and pay for another permit at an additional cost of approximately $1,000. These changes were not caused by any action or request on our part and represent a substantial departure from the original agreement and expectations established when we made our purchase and paid our deposit. We have consulted with legal counsel regarding our rights and the return of our deposit. However, we are willing to resolve this matter amicably and move past the situation provided that our deposit is returned in full. We respectfully request confirmation of the cancellation and prompt return of our deposit.

To proceed with a refund under the permit-denial policy we need a copy of the permit denial or written confirmation from your building department. A plot plan alone is not enough.

Our management team typically requires written confirmation from the building department — even a forwarded email stating the lot cannot take the building.

Please reply to this email with that document attached. Review takes 1–2 weeks after we have what we need.
